Studio Visits with Jennifer Smith

ECU Indigenous students are invited to sign up for a studio visit with curator Jennifer Smith. There is space for 5 students to participate and a link to a sign-up sheet will be sent to our student email list. Please indicate if work will be brought to the AGP or where your on campus studio space is located.

Jennifer Smith is a Red River Métis curator, writer and arts administrator from Treaty 1 Territory/Winnipeg. Jennifer’s interests have always been the use of our hands to tell stories most often looking to material culture and craft. She works as the Director of the National Indigenous Media Arts Coalition, and has worked in the Media Art sector for sixteen years. Working with Indigenous artists in Media Art on a daily basis allows her to understand storytelling both through the slow process of the handmade and lens of technology. Jennifer lives with a hereditary neuromuscular disorder that has been a part of her whole life, but recently has been affecting her mobility in new ways. Increasingly her work is being informed about disability justice and access.
