The 2011 Emily Carr Graduation Ceremony was held on May 7 at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts. This year 10 of our Aboriginal students crossed the stage! Rick Harry and his son James (a third year Emily Carr student) lead the Chancellor’s Party into the auditorium. Honorary degrees were given to Marian Bantjes, Mark Lewis and Dan Graham. The Emily Award, which acknowledges outstanding achievements by alumni, was presented to Elizabeth Zvonar.
Following the ceremony, the Degree Exhibition opened on Granville Island. Amie Gislason’s work was selected for the 2011 Farris Award for Art + Social Media and Ippiksaut Friesen’s animated film, The Dimming, has been selected for the Toronto International Film Festival.
